SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Springfield police say a tractor-trailer struck and killed a 55-year-old man on eastbound Interstate 44 on Wednesday night.  Officers say Brady Stevens of Strafford died at the scene, which was about halfway between Glenstone Avenue and U.S. 65. The crash happened about 11:42 p.m.  The Missouri Department of Transportation closed the eastbound lanes for several hours while Springfield police officers completed their investigation. ...

Traffic is back to normal on I-44 following an accident involving a pedestrian and a vehicle.  The accident happened in the westbound lane of I-44, near Strafford around 8:30 Sunday night. The pedestrian, 27 year old Abdelaziz Ammar from Clifton, NJ, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Greene County coroner.  Highway patrol officials tell KSPR the driver of the car was a 17 year old from Strafford and was not injured.

FAIR GROVE, Mo. -- A house in the Fair Grove area is a total loss after a fire Tuesday.  Several departments including Fair Grove, Strafford and Ebenezer were involved in fighting the fire, which also involved four out buildings. No one was injured in the fire.  The cause is under investigation.

Route 125 at OO will be closed in Strafford beginning at 8:00 AM Tuesday for crews to repair a railroad crossing. The road work is scheduled to end at 6:00 PM Tuesday. Drivers will have to use Route OO to Route 744 to Route 65 to Route YY to Route 125 to get around the closed roadway. In Springfield, one eastbound and one westbound lane of Highway 60 was closed east of Glenstone overnight. The lanes are set to reopen at 6:00 AM Tuesday. Crews were installing concrete barrier walls along the median.

ROGERSVILLE, Mo. - Three people are safe after their neighbors let them know about a fire at their mobile home. Fire crews were called to the 200 block of West Helena in Rogersville around 1 a.m. Thursday. The Logan-Rogersville Fire Chief said the home was completely engulfed in flames when they got there. First reports said that some people were trapped inside. But neighbors warned the mother and 2 kids who live there and helped them escape. Logan-Rogersville, Battlefield, and Strafford fire crews were able to put the fire out quickly.
