Rain will be the main story today. We'll see several rounds of showers and thunderstorms because of an area of low pressure in Texas. Plenty of moisture is available with this rain, so some locations will definitely see about 1 to 2 inches. This will be especially prevalent areas to the south and east of Springfield. Some of the rain will continue into early Saturday. So a soggy start to the weekend, but boy, what a finish! By Sunday, we're talking 70s and plenty of sunshine.

Rain showers continue to make their way into the Ozarks. Some of the rain has been heavy at times. Rain will continue tonight, and taper off by tomorrow morning.   Some rainfall amounts could make it to nearly 2" in some spots, as shown below. This is the forecast rainfall amounts.   Late Tuesday night into Wednesday a LIGHT dusting of snow will be possible across our northern counties. This model run below shows the very light nature of the snow.

Happy Halloween everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend. The weather was sure nice. Get ready for some changes though. First off tomorrow will be fairly nice but a little cooler. The winds will stay out of east and stay quite breezy. Temps will only make it into the mid 60s. An area of low pressure will begin to track across Oklahoma and into Arkansas and bring us a chance of some rain late Monday night into early Tuesday morning. The rain should be fairly light and no severe weather is expected.

The weekend will start off nice, with warm conditions during the day on Saturday. Highs will reach the mid 60's and near 70. Winds will be quite breezy again, as high as 40mph in some spots. Below is your day planner.   The rain should hold off until later Saturday evening as shown below from our in-house model. It develops a line of showers and storms and pushes it through the area overnight into Sunday.   That front will stall and move back to the north and areas of heavy rain will be possible.

After a very warm day with highs in the upper 50's, we are about to see a big change in the form of rain and cooler temperatures. I don't expect the rain to move in until after midnight, but when it does it could be heavy in areas south of I-44. Below is a snapshot of the Hi-Res Futurecast model of rain moving in.     Our model also computes rainfall totals, and below you can see some 1" to 2" amounts along the MO and AR border. Lighter amounts to the northwest.

A calm night is in store for this Sunday, before our next system spreads in on Monday and brings us another chance for some rain. Highs will once again climb into the low 50's tomorrow. Clouds will increase later in the day.   It will also be quite windy. Expect southerly winds to crank up to 30mph at times on Monday.   The air will be pretty dry to start out with, so I'm not expecting any major rainfall, but scattered showers especially west of highway 65 are likely.

Today will be a mix bag of rain/freezing rain/sleet/ and snow. This activity will start a little after the lunch hour and continue through overnight tonight. It'll be rain first pushing from the south and west. Around 6pm or so, we'll be getting cold enough to see some freezing rain and sleet mixing with the rain. Because of this, a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Northern Arkansas through early Wednesday morning.  As temperatures drop further, snow will begin around 11pm/midnight.

While temperatures will remain mild on Saturday, we will have to contend with rain moving in especially in the afternoon. Highs will reach the mid 60's by the afternoon. Rain and a few storms will become more likely later in the day.   Our models are showing the most widespread rain chances during the evening and overnight hours of Saturday into Sunday.   One half to as much as one inch of rain will be possible as the line of rain and storms move through.

Today was as normal as it gets. In a rare event, both the high and low matched the normal high and low for today. As you all know, with the crazy weather here it is something that doesn't happen too often.   While today was mild, a push of much colder air is pushing to the southeast and soon will bring our temperatures tumbling down.   It will also bring a round of rain and a few storms overnight and into the day on Tuesday. With the lack of key ingredients, severe weather is not anticipated.

Today, an upper level low will bring the return of showers and a few thunderstorms to the area. Most should remain below severe limits and be to the south and east.  By Friday, the low exits the Ozarks. We will see sunshine, eventually, with highs near 80 degrees.  Saturday is looking pleasant with highs in the low 80s. Sunday and into Monday features strong and possibly severe storms along a cold front.   KSPR Meteorologist Lindsey Slater You can follow me on Twitter and *like* my Facebook Page!

Today, showers are exiting toward our south and east along a cold front. There's an isolated rain chance throughout the day, but the odds are slim. Clouds will eventually clear up, and help to warm temps into the mid 60s this afternoon.  Another cold front drops through the Ozarks Saturday afternoon that could spark a few showers. These will not be long lasting. Highs will push near 70.  And the end of the weekend, is the best. For Mother's Day, we'll see sunshine on the increase with highs a little cooler in the low to mid 60s.     KSPR Meteorologist Lindsey Slater You can follow me on Twitter and *like* my Facebook Page!

What a crazy day!  You can say you got to experience history today.  We set the record for the latest measurable snow in Springfield.  The previous record was May 2, 1929.  A few more snow bands will continue this morning.  It will be hard to accumulate much more snow with temperatures just above freezing but a little more is possible on top of what snow is out there.  Near midday the snow will start to transition to rain.  Areas to the east of...

What a great end to the weekend!  Couldn't have been any more perfect.  This evening will be nice to get out and about if you didn't take advantage of the day. Tonight we will drop into the lower and mid 50's.  There will be a few clouds and maybe some patchy fog to the east.  Monday will be a little more windy with south winds near 10 to 15 mph.  This will help to boost temperatures in the lower and maybe even middle 80's. Tuesday will be similar to Monday.  A few rounds of storms will develop both days but should stay just to our north.  On Wednesday a cold front will approach the area and that will spark off showers and storms to our west.

The rain and clouds are on the way out.  Tonight will be mostly cloudy with a little bit of drizzle.  Some fog is likely from time to time.  Lows will be in the mid 40's.  The clouds will clear out from west to east on Sunday.  There will be a decent amount of sunshine for everyone by afternoon.  Highs will warm to the lower 70's and upper 60's to the east. It will be even warmer on Monday.  The winds will pick up from the south and highs will top out in the lower 80's. The warm weather will continue through Wednesday before another cold front moves into the Ozarks.  This will cool us down and give us a good round of rain.  Severe weather doesn't look to be a big threat.  The storm system will then stall out somewhere in the Midwest.  Depending on where that sets up shop will greatly influence our temperatures and rain chances.

Hootentown, MO--"There was no water.  It wasn't any fun. " says Diana Newman who owns Hootontown Canoe Rentals and Campgrounds.  Last year was one of the worst in twenty years.  Now there is water just a little too much. "People could probably make it down fine but what we have to consider is if they do happen to tip over, it's moving so fast they can't stand.  It would wash them on down. " says Newman. Today the river is three feet.  It has been up to nine feet four different times the past few months.  Toni Fox owns a café just down from Newman called River Smokin.  It is now open all year.  "I'm building up a pretty good little business now with the locals but we really depend on the campers and the canoers.

After a Frost Advisory this morning, temperatures will boost into the mid 60s this afternoon with plenty of sunshine. This will be nice after temps in the 50s yesterday, but it IS still below average for the end of April. Normally we should be in the upper 60s and low 70s.  But...showers and a few thunderstorms are on the way. This will be happening overnight tonight and into much of Friday. You can see the timing on the clock below.  Some rain could be heavy at times, but it'll migrate southward later in the day. Rain amount will be between 0.5" to 1".  After the rain clears early Saturday, temps return to the 60s, and then 70s and sunny on Sunday.
