SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Missouri legislators debated big changes over sex crimes. Representatives recommended legislation that would affect the sex offender registry and change the state's definition of rape. Alice Beauchamp sat in a room with sun streaming on her face. The quiet woman had her hands clasped on her lap. Occasionally, her cross necklace reflected glimpses of the sun on her face. Softly, she told a story about a lifetime of abuse. It was her story. "I was raped when I was 18 and then I was raped several times, actually 10 times all together and abused for like 27 years," she said.

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ar -- Even though there's still snow on the ground, state park rangers are gearing up for the tourist season. In Arkansas, those rangers will have to follow a new law designed to guard some areas of the park from sex offenders. Act 39 prohibits registered offenders from entering a swimming area or children's playground contained within an Arkansas State Park. The Baxter County Sheriff likens the new law to closing loopholes, since the registered sex offenders are still allowed in the park.
