-Sen. Kit Bond, R-Missouri: “There is no doubt the President is an artful orator and he said a lot of good things, but I will be far more interested in what his Administration does tomorrow than what he said tonight,” said Bond. “While he signaled a willingness to move to the middle, and find common ground with Republicans, I want less talk, more action. I’m from the Show-Me State – so show me!” -Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Missouri: “The president was clear tonight that he wants the country to focus on several critical issues: creating an atmosphere where businesses are able to add new jobs, reducing our deficit, and continuing to stand firm in the face of global threats.

Police say the dead man was in his late twenties and right now they do not suspect foul play. We asked officers if the death could be heat related but they told us they won't have any more information about a possible cause of death until an autopsy is complete. Ad Team, Missouri State University's student advertising agency, held a field day on Tuesday at Plaster Student Union.  The event was part of a joint venture with AT&T aimed at raising awareness of the dangers of texting and driving.  To help drive that point home, Ad Team came up with the concept of the Textulator (text you later, if you say it slowly).  The Textulator challenges users to play the video game Mario Cart while simultaneously receiving and sending text messages.  As one would expect, players experienced numerous virtual wrecks.

Low-income seniors and disabled Missourians who live in rented homes could lose a state tax break under legislation endorsed by the state Senate.   Senators initially approved the legislation today. It would repeal the tax credit for more than 100,000 renters while leaving it in place for seniors and disabled people who own their homes. The tax credit was created in 1973, and was intended to offset a portion of people's local property taxes. But a tax credit review commission appointed by Governor Jay Nixon has recommended abolishing the tax break for renters.

Missouri State fans may soon have to switch radio stations to listen to Bears basketball games. The Springfield Business Journal is reporting that after 33-years, the owner of Meyer Communications says he may walk away from the Missouri State basketball rights. Founder Ken Meyer says he feels betrayed by the school after it hired an out of state marketing firm to handle its advertising which he says took money away from his station to spend on television commercials. “He's a long time supporter of the University but is upset because he feels they are competing against him now so he's not happy about that and this 33 year relationship could come to an end after this next season,” said Springfield Business Journal reporter Brian Brown.
