One of five men accused of participating in the botched kidnapping and beating of pet supply shop owner Jeff Muller, was sentenced Wednesday to 18 years in state prison. Twenty three year old Andrew Wadel received the sentence at a hearing in Sussex County, New Jersey. Prosecutors spoke at the hearing saying the incident had scarred the victim. In a case of mistaken identity, Jeff Muller, now 61, was abducted at gunpoint and zapped with a stun gun outside his Newton shop, J&G Discount Pet Foods, on Jan. 8, 2010, by three men. Authorities later learned the trio was recruited to find a different Jeff Muller who supposedly had bilked a man out of $485,000.

The Hollister man charged with child kidnapping will be arraigned in Taney county court next week. Prosecutors say 22-year-old Andrew Burton held a 33-year-old man, a 15-year-old girl and a 6-month-old baby inside his home. The incident occurred in July as officers attempted to make contact with Burton on an outstanding warrant. Also charged in the incident is 22-year-old Brandi Crapps of Hollister. Officers took two infants into protective custody following the incident.

A Greene County man guilty of kidnapping could spend the rest of his life in prison, when he receives sentencing Friday. Michael Crites was found guilty for the 2009 kidnapping and forcibly sodomizing of a 10-year-old boy. Prosecutors said Crites picked up a 10-year-old boy he did not know from Jordan Creek, near Meadowmere and Hillcrest, then took him to a wooded area and forcibly sodomized him.

A Missouri man charged with kidnapping his kids from an Ozark domestic violence shelter will go to trial this summer.  Scott Pikey of Jackson, MO is charged with felony child abduction and one count of violating a protection order. Investigators say last summer Pikey waited for another car to drive through the shelter's gate then snuck on to the property.  According to court documents, Pikey then took he kids while his former wife was in the shower. Police in Ozark arrested Pikey a short time later, the kids were not hurt.

Formal charges have been filed against a man accused of strapping what he said was a bomb to an elderly woman's ankle and then trying to force her to rob a bank. Prosecutors today filed aggravated robbery, kidnapping and firearms charges against Paul Bradley. Investigators say in January, Bradley tried to tried to extort money from Betty Davis and her husband. Authorities say Bradley strapped what Davis thought was a bomb to her ankle. The device was fake, but no one knew that at the time.     Once at the bank, Davis told employees about the potential bomb and authorities removed it. Sheriff's deputies found her husband tied up in their home, but unharmed.

The man who drove from Utah to Missouri with the body of his ex-girlfriend stashed in the trunk, has pleaded guilty to kidnapping. After the plea, a federal judge immediately ordered 51 year old Michael Doyel to serve 30 years in prison. Doyel's plea agreement also requires him to plead guilty to first-degree murder in Utah state court. That hearing is set for January sixth. Doyel kidnapped and killed his former girlfriend Deborah Jones in April 2008. Her body was found stuffed in a storage container in Doyel's car outside a Branson motel.

A Greene County judge on Wednesday convicted a 28-year-old man of an array of felonies stemming from an attack on a 10-year-old boy. Michael Crites was convicted of forcible sodomy, child kidnapping and enticement of a child. Prosecutors said Crites took the boy from Jordan Creek, near Meadowmere and Hillcrest, into a wooded area and sexually attacked him on July 15, 2009. Crites faces a life prison term on the sodomy charge; 10 to 30 years in prison for kidnapping; and five to 30 years in prison for the enticement conviction.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Nine days after a stranger kidnapped two children; there is still only one suspect. However, police are not saying anything about her. The only description is her hair color: blonde. On Saturday March 2, police responded to a busy parking lot around 1:30 p.m. on 1117 E. Commercial Street. The children's father told police someone stole his car after he left the keys in it and ran inside an antique store to talk to someone.  13-month-old Harmony Blue and her 4-year-old brother were inside the car. The father told officers that he witnessed a blonde-haired woman taking off in the car.  He said he chased it but was unable to make the driver stop.

Another southwest Missouri suspect has been charged in the abduction of the wrong New Jersey man. Fifty-five-year-old Roy A. Slates faces one count each of concealing a felony and hindering prosecution in Vernon County Circuit Court. The Joplin Globe reported he posted $5,000 bond and was released this past week. The Nevada, Mo., contractor is accused of concealing his involvement in two crimes - a November home invasion in Missouri and last month's abduction of pet store owner Jeffrey Muller.
