SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Fire officials say a lightning strike caused a house fire in south Springfield.  Crews were called to the 1400 block of W. Highland just before midnight Wednesday.

Neighbors called about the fire.  They say it looked like it started in the garage and spread to the rooms above.

The people who lived there were not home.  A fire marshal says a lightning strike sparked the fire.

Neighbors tell KSPR they saw a lot of lightning in that area before the fire started.
