SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Having their young child molested or someone enticing their child for sex is something every parent worries about. That's what U.S. Marshals say happened to one Springfield girl in her own home.

Deputy U.S. Marshal Darren Lane said, "Certainly, it's very scary. I can only imagine how that little girl felt that night."

It happened in November 2011. Prosecutors say Leroy Leon Davis tried to entice and molest a young girl.

The mother of the girl had found her crying and packing a bag to leave. The mother asked the daughter what was wrong, and the girl told her what had happened. Lane said police were called to the home, "There, they made contact with Mr. Davis's wife who made a complaint that Mr. Davis had passed a note, a sexually explicit note, to a family member, a 14-year old girl in this case."

Officers put Davis in jail. Once he was released, he took and and hasn't been seen since.

Lane said catching Davis has been made more complicated because he's assumed several aliases and identities over the years. He's been arrested under different names as well. Some of the names he's used besides his real name of Leroy Leon Davis are:

  • Roy Halbert
  • Roy Davis
  • Larry Watts
  • James McBride
  • Larry Williams

Davis is 5'9", weighs 160 lbs., and has black hair with brown eyes. If you know where he is, call the U.S. Marshals at (417) 831-0588.
