SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - Has your throat been a little on the scratchy side lately?
You might have a common sickness that is going around this week - the sore throat.
Health officials with the Ozarks Community Hospital clinic in Springfield have seen an uptick in people coming in for treatment.
There are two different kinds of sore throats.
One comes from a virus, the other bacteria
. A bacterial sore throat is more common because this one is contagious.
Prevention is the key to ward off this sickness but if you do get sick here's a few tips to get better faster.
"We tell them to do warm salt gargles, take Tylenol or ibuprofen for a fever, rest, drink lots of water for hydration, and get your Vitamin C really up," says Ven Vu, a Nurse Practitioner with the Ozarks Community Hospital.
