SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The pedestrian who died after being hit by a car on Campbell Avenue at Weaver Road was Adam Linder, 26, of Branson.  The crash happened at 9:42 p.m. Tuesday.  City police released Linder's identity on Wednesday afternoon.

Springfield police say Linder was walking east-to-west across Campbell (U.S. 160/Missouri 13) when he was hit by a southbound car driven by a teenager from Nixa.  Police at the scene say the driver had a green light.

The driver lost control on the rain slickened road after hitting Linder, who died at the scene.  The car stopped in the northbound lanes.  Police said the driver did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The crash is still under investigation.
