SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- On behalf of the community collaborative, the Healthy Living Alliance, The Ozarks Regional YMCA received a grant of more than $1.3 million to help make the healthy choice the easy choice in Springfield.
The grant is part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS’s) Community Transformation Grants (CTG). The CTGs are an effort by the Obama Administration to address health and well-being of U.S. communities through initiatives.
The Prevention and Public Health Fund, as part of the Affordable Care Act, supports the CTG program and other initiatives designed to achieve the ability to prevent chronic diseases, detect them early, manage conditions before they become severe, and provide states and communities the resources they need to promote healthy living.
The Healthy Living Alliance (HLA) is one of 48 awardees around the nation that represent an organization committed to improving the health of their community. The HLA is a team of more than 30 like-minded organizations working together to connect existing programs with specific health needs in schools and worksites.
