Kyle Weems passed over at NBA Draft

Former Missouri State star still has options

Springfield, MO - Kyle Weems finished his college career with the 2nd most points in Missouri State history, but on Thursday night the former Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year did not hear his name called at the NBA Draft.

Weems is the only player in MVC history to score over 1,800 points, grab over 800 rebounds, and make over 200 3-pointers.  Despite those gaudy numbers, NBA teams see Weems as something of a "tweener" at the next level.  At 6'6" Weems has the size to play at the 2-guard position, but not the quickness.  Teams believe he has the quickness to play small forward, but not the size. This lack of a true position is perhaps the biggest reason that Weems' name wasn't called.

Although draft night didn't go the way the former MSU Bear would have liked, it does not necessarily mean that his NBA dreams are dashed.  Weems could still sign with a team as an undrafted free agent.
