Attorney says Missouri inmate's suicide should have been prevented

Charles Daniel Hovis was found bleeding to death in the Bollinger county jail

June 07, 2012|Leigh Moody | Anchor

An inmate in the Bollinger county jail apparently killed himself and his attorney is outraged over the incident.

Officials say 55-year-old Charles Daniel Hovis was found bleeding to death Tuesday. Authorities say he used a razor to cut his left arm in two places. Hovis recently returned to jail following hospitalization for self-inflicted wounds suffered last week at the jail.

His attorney says Hovis should have been on a suicide watch and should not have been able to get a razor.
