SPRINGFIELD. Mo. - United States Marshals are looking for a convicted sex offender they say has been on the run since 2000.

Television show America's Most Wanted has featured Herman Carroll several times since 2000. He's wanted for several charges related to the sexual assault of a young girl in Sullivan Illinois dating back to July, 2000, after being convicted of similar charges in 1983 and 1993.

Carroll was arrested in July, 2000, but quickly posted bond and failed to appear at trial later to face those charges.

Carroll was first featured on the popular show AMW in 2004, but few leads came into the tip line. He was featured again in 2009 and Marshals say this time tips poured in from Springfield.

Carroll has several distinguishing features, including a birthmark on his abdomen, a tattoo of a heart on his left shoulder with the word "JOANNE", and an unusual tattoo of a family tree on his right shoulder. He's also been known to wear a mustache in the past, but authorities believe he's clean-shaven now.

Police say Carroll is an avid camper and loves the outdoors. He has worked in construction as a trim finisher.

If you have any information about Carroll's location, Marshals say you can call 1-800-CRIME-TV.
