Marshfield not bringing back football coach Stan McGarvey

After 3 season McGarvey's contract will not be renewed

Marshfield, MO - In the last 24 hours the Marshfield Blue Jays have notified two coaches that they will not be returning next season.  First the Marshfield school board voted to not bring back girls basketball coach Gary Murphy and then KSPR Sports learned Tuesday night that football coach Stan McGarvey has also been let go.

KSPR Sports spoke to McGarvey and he would not divulge the reasons that the administration gave him for not renewing his contract.  McGarvey instead took the high road, "It's just part of the business," said McGarvey.  "I've greatly enjoyed working with these kids in Marshfield.  This is a great place and a great community."

In McGarvey's three seasons at Marshfield the Blue Jays went 14-16.  "I'm proud of what we did offensively.  We broke pretty much every offensive record," McGarvey stated.

KSPR Sports reached Marshfield Superintendent Mark Mayo by phone, but he declined to comment as to why McGarvey was not being retained.
