INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Drury University freshman guard Drake Patterson (Blue Springs, Mo./Blue Springs South) has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.

In two home contests against Illinois Springfield and Quincy, both of which were ahead of Drury in the GLVC West standings, Patterson came off the bench to average 18.0 points and 4.5 rebounds per contest.  Patterson was 13-of-17 (.765) shooting last week and an impressive 10-of-14 (.714) from beyond the arc.
Against Illinois Springfield last Thursday, Patterson played just 19 minutes but managed to post 17 points on 6-of-7 (.857) shooting, including 5-of-6 (.833) from 3-point land.  Patterson also snagged six rebounds and a pair of steals in the Panthers’ 82-58 win over the Prairie Stars.
On Saturday in a contest with Quincy, a team that had won five straight heading into the weekend, Patterson once again came off the bench to score 19 points and post three rebounds and two assists in the 78-71 victory.  In 29 minutes of action, Patterson was 7-of-10 (.700) from the field and 5-of-8 (.625) from the perimeter.

With the two wins, Patterson helped the Panthers close the gap in the West Division, pulling within one game of UIS and Quincy.  Drury is 7-6 in conference play and 13-8 overall.
This is the first weekly honor for Patterson and the second for a Drury Panther as Brandon Lockhart was honored on Dec. 12, 2011.
Other top performers in the GLVC last week included Bellarmine’s Chris Dowe , Indianapolis’ Reece Cheatham, Kentucky Wesleyan’s Anthony Young, Missouri-St. Louis’ Joshua McCoy, Northern Kentucky’s Eshaunte Jones, Quincy’s Justin Brock, Rockhurst’s Brandon McCann, William Jewell’s Nick Larson, and UW-Parkside’s Leneal Harris.
