More than 1300 students at Missouri State University walked down the aisle at John Q. Hammons Arena today and picked up their diplomas.
Students weren't the only ones walking away with some paperwork though. The W. Plaster Foundation and the Plaster family received the 2011 Bronze Award given for extraordinary achievement and outstanding support for Missouri State.
Also today during the commencements, Shawn Askinosie, the founder of Askinosie Chocolates, was approved to be the 14th recipient of an honorary doctorate. Askinosie will receive the doctorate of public affairs during the spring commencement ceremonies in May.
Meanwhile, Drury students will be turning their tassles on Saturday for graduation. Winter commencement is scheduled to start early Saturday at 10am at the O'Reilly Family Event Center.
Nearly 400 undergraduates will be walking away with a diploma. More than 40-students will get their masters.
