Your Guide To Veterans Day 2011 In The Ozarks

There are a host of happenings this Veterans Day Weekend in the Ozarks.

Springfield

On Veterans Day, Friday, November 11, 2011, CU Transit Services will provide free rides to all military veterans and active military personnel, on all regular operating routes.

Veterans and military personnel are asked to present their Veterans benefit card or military I.D. to the bus operator to receive free bus service on Veterans Day. 

Applebee's

Applebee's Restaurant is offering free meals to veterans on Friday. In addition, Applebee's will collect personalized Thank You cards at participating restaurants through Veterans Day and will distribute the cards from the restaurants to veterans and troops.

Drury University

On Friday, Nov. 11, Drury University will honor veterans with a celebration on campus at 11 a.m. at the Armed Forces Plaza outside of the O'Reilly Family Event Center.

The celebration includes a flag presentation by the Ozark High School Color Guard, music performed by the Drury Chamber Choir, and a national anthem performance

Later Friday, The Ozark Mountain Daredevils, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Big Smith in a Veterans Day concert on Nov. 11 at the O'Reilly Family Event Center on the campus of Drury University.

Harrison, AR

Harrison Veterans Day Parade & Corvette Car Show November 11-12 to benefit "No Greater Sacrifice"  


On Friday, November 11th, the group has planned a Veterans Day Parade starting at 4:00 p.m. that will involve invited Corvette Club owners from around the tri-state region and beyond. With a goal of at least 100 corvettes participating, the corvettes will travel down Highway 65 from the north end of Harrison into the Historic Downtown Business District. Riding in each car with the drivers will be veterans from the area.

Rolla, MO

The Missouri University of Science and Technology Jazz Ensemble will perform a "Red, White and Blues" concert this Veteran's Day. All veterans with proof of military affiliation will get free admission to the concert scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, in Leach Theater of Castleman Hall, 10th and Main streets in Rolla.

Mount Vernon

A salute to Veterans is scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Friday, November 11, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mount Vernon.
Approximately 150 Veterans will be honored with medals and medallions by way of the Missouri Veterans Recognition Program, which recognizes Missouri National Guard and other Missouri Veterans who served with the regular armed services.
