Springfield, MO - The Missouri State Ice Bears and Mediacom Ice Park have turned the ice “pink” for a special Breast Cancer Awareness promotion at the Ice Bears games this weekend. Ice Bears players will also be wearing black jerseys trimmed and numbered in pink for the two games and the jerseys will be auctioned at Saturday’s game with proceeds going to fund cancer research.
Missouri State will take on the Northern Illinois University Huskies on the pink ice at Mediacom Ice Park as the Ice Bears start Mid-America Collegiate Hockey Association (MACHA) league play. The Ice Bears are currently 4-2-1 in the 11/12 season after splitting two games vs. University of Illinois last weekend with a 3-2 win and a 6-5 overtime loss.
The Ice Bears and Huskies face off at 7 pm, Friday, October 7th and at 7 pm, Saturday, October 8th. The Friday, October 7th game is “Q-102 Night” with free general admission tickets distributed to selected Q 102 listeners. The Ice Bears will also be offering “2 for 1 General Admission" tickets for tickets purchased at the Mediacom Ice Park ticket sales booth. The Saturday, October 8th game will feature the “Breast Cancer Awareness” fundraising efforts including the Ice Bears pink jerseys silent auction. In addition, it will be “Greek Night” at the game and the first 250 fraternity and sorority members wearing their greek lettered clothing will receive free general admission tickets to the game.
