5th Quarter Preview Week: Nixa Eagles

2011 Season Preview

August 16, 2011|Mike Scott | mscott@kspr.com

Nixa, MO — 2010 was a succesful year for the Nixa Eagles at 6 and 5, but after winning the class 5 district 8 title the Eagles ran into a buzzsaw against future Mizzou QB Corbin Berkstresser and Lee's Summit.

This season comes with high expectations as head coach Rich Rehagen and the Eagles return 20 seniors, including 9 total starters; 3 on offense, 6 on defense.

Senior Sam Rehagen will have the job of replacing 2-year starter Ben Fisher at quarterback.  The Eagles will also miss All-COC Large receiver Eric Christophel, now with Missouri State.

Seniors Dean Deetz and Kevin Shrauger add experience in the backfield and will also play on the defensive side.

Defensive line should be a strength for the Eagles, meanwhile questions remain about the offensive line.

Nixa opens the season Friday August 26th at non-conference Camdenton.
