Humane Society of Southwest Missouri Heading to Joplin to Rescue Animals Affected by Tornado

Humane Society sending a 5 member team to search for hurt and lost pets

The Humane Society of Southwest Missouri is sending a 5 member team to Joplin to rescue and shelter pets affected by last night’s devastating tornado.  The group is working together with other rescue organizations to help in the alleviation of distress and suffering animals.

The organization is expecting hundreds of homeless dogs, and cats due to the tornado. Animals are being transported from Joplin, to Springfield.  After receiving medical attention by the Humane Society's veterinarian, they will be available for adoption.

People wishing to make donations to assist can do so at www.swh.org or call the shelter at 417-833-2526.       

Supplies needed at this time are blankets, washable dog beds, toys, dog food, and kitty litter. A complete wish list is on their website, www.swh.org.  Items may be dropped off at the shelter located at 3161 W. Norton Road between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday-Saturday.
