UPDATE-City Utilities Working to Restore Power to Several Hundred in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo — Joel Alexander, Springfield City Utilities' spokesman, says CU is working to restore power in West Springield.

Power went out at about 4:15 a.m. Thursday morning, after rain, lightning, and thunder hit the area.

Statement from Joel Alexander, City Utilities:

Following storms that went through our area, CU line crews are restoring power to some portions of southwest Springfield. 

Approximately 300 of 110,000 electric customers have been affected.  This does include some traffic signals in the affected area along.

Crews are responding and repairs will be made as rapidly as possible.

Customers are reminded to call 1-888-863-9001 to report a power outage.
