Bridge Closure in Branson

The recent flooding has nothing to do with the closure.

BRANSON, Mo. — The Veterans Boulevard Bridge over Roark Creek in downtown Branson will be closed to southbound traffic Monday and Tuesday, May 9 and 10.

On Monday, the southbound lane of the bridge will be closed from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Tuesday, from 7 a.m. to 12 noon.

Southbound drivers should use Branson Landing Boulevard as an alternate route those two days.

Northbound drivers are also urged to use Branson Landing Boulevard as the north lane on the Veterans Boulevard Bridge will be closed at various times for the inspection, causing delays.

The closure is not connected to any of the recent flooding, according to Branson Assistant Public Works Director Keith Francis, but rather for a maintenance inspection.

MoDOT has a grant program to assist communities with bridge maintenance, and it's called Bridge Engineering Assistance Program or BEAP.

MoDOT will fund 100 percent or $11,650 of the Veterans Boulevard Bridge study.

The bridge was built in 1931 and has been rehabilitated twice since then - in 1959 and 1989.
