SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - MODOT has announced that it will be closing the westbound lanes of I-44 from mile marker 69 (James River in Springfield) Tuesday afternoon, February 1, 2011.
And road crew officials say it could be four days before the lanes open again.
Most of the problem seems to be the massive snow amounts in Oklahoma. I-44 in that state has been closed most of Tuesday. Officials say that's created a mess on the Missouri portion of the interstate, so they closed I-44 from Springfield west to the Oklahoma state-line.
