U.S. Senator Blunt Gets Committee Assignments

Missouri's junior U.S. Senator Roy Blunt will be serving on the senate  Appropriations Committee.    The senator's office confirmed the appointments on its website today.    Blunt will also sit on the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation;  the Senate Rules and Administration Committee; and the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.

“I will continue to fight for Missouri’s transportation infrastructure on the Senate Commerce Committee, along with the science and technology issues the committee deals with,” said Strafford native Blunt. “I’m also glad to continue the work of addressing the threats to our nation and to building on my experience in the House as a member of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.”

“I look forward to serving on these four committees and I’m ready to get started on the critical work at hand,” said Blunt. “Due to the fact that the Democrat Senate majority has failed to put up a budget for the last two years, the serious business of cutting the government’s out-of-control spending will take place in the Appropriations Committee.”

Committee Background Information:

 

The U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations is constitutionally responsible for writing legislation that allocates federal funds to numerous government agencies, departments, and organizations annually. The Committee is responsible for all spending bills.

 

The U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation is responsible for dealing with issues pertaining to transportation, highway safety, interstate commerce, communications, along with consumer products and services regulation, among other issues. Blunt previously served on the Energy and Commerce in the U.S. House of Representatives.

 

The U.S. Senate Rules and Administration Committee is responsible for overseeing Senate infrastructure, assigning offices, Senate rules, attendance, member qualifications, contested elections, and federal elections, among other issues.

 

The U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence is responsible for overseeing and funding the nation’s intelligence activities. Blunt previously served on the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence in the U.S. House of Representatives.
