Ozarks Rape Suspect Arrested in Georgia

A man wanted in connection with a Camden county rape is under arrest in Georgia.
The Camden county sheriff says Timothy Charles Colwell was arrested in Lamar County, Georgia. Investigators from Camden County have been searching for Colwell since Wednesday, July 14th 2010, when he ran from law enforcement into the wood near the Wal-Mart in Camdenton.
Colwell was wanted on questioning of a reported rape in Miller County, Missouri.

Since that time, investigators have contacted family members, friends, businesses, and other law enforcement agencies. According to Sheriff Dwight Franklin, detectives developed information that Colwell had fled to Georgia.
Detectives then contacted Georgia authorities who began searching for Colwell.
Sheriff Franklin advises that Colwell was taken into custody without incident and is currently being held in the Spalding County. Georgia, Jail, pending extradition back to Missouri.
Colwell has been charged with Kidnapping, First Degree Burglary, Domestic Assault, Stealing, and Tampering in Camden County.
